Sunset Sailing Tours is seeking enthusiastic and reliable Deckhands to join our maritime team. As a Deckhand, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our luxury vessels, contributing to the safety and enjoyment of our passengers. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, providing hands-on experience in the maritime and hospitality industry.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the safe operation of the vessel under the guidance of the Captain and Chief Mate.
- Participate in navigational duties, including watchkeeping and lookout responsibilities.
- Provide exceptional customer service to passengers, assisting with boarding, disembarking, and addressing inquiries.
- Assist in ensuring a positive and enjoyable experience for guests during the cruise.
- Adhere to and promote strict safety protocols and procedures.
- Assist in conducting safety briefings and drills for passengers, ensuring their awareness of safety measures.
- Undertake routine maintenance tasks to ensure the cleanliness and upkeep of the vessel.
- Assist with general housekeeping duties, including cabin preparation and cleaning.
- Assist in mooring and unmooring operations, including the handling of lines and tying knots.
- Ensure that all equipment related to mooring is properly maintained and stowed.
- Be prepared to respond to emergency situations, including fire, medical incidents, or other critical incidents.
- Follow emergency procedures and protocols to ensure the safety of passengers and crew.
- Collaborate effectively with other crew members, including the Captain, Chief Mate, and hospitality team.
- Support team members in various tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the vessel.
Qualifications
- Basic maritime training or relevant experience.
- Strong swimming abilities and comfort working on the water.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy objects.
- Eagerness to learn and follow instructions.
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Valid work permit for EU
